COLEORTON DANE (Dane) Caroline and Charles Sheffield bought Dane in 2006 as a four year old straight off the racetrack, he had done both flat racing and hurdling. He was bought in the may and he had a couple of months off just to let him down a bit as he was very fit and also being fed a lot of hard feed, when he had had a bit of a break we started to teach him a totally new way of going for him, in the first year we just played at home and then at little training shows. In 2007 he did a few unaffiliated events followed by a few affiliated ones at the end of the season, his dressage was still the main problem area as he tended to get very tense. In 2008 he was very consistent being placed at Pre Novice and placed at one of his Novices, his dressage has been improving every time out. I think that he is a very exciting horse as he can do all three phases of the event very well its just doing them all well all on the same day!! In 2009 Dane has gone consistantly well at Novice level gaining 9BE points throughout the season including being 13th with a double clear at Knaptoft CIC* and he finished the season jumping clear cross country at his first intermediate at Gatcombe. Dane has gone very well this year at his two novices and the NRF at Great Tew, he is going intermediate next time out.
