COLEORTON DANE (DANE) - 16.3hh Thoroughbred, grey gelding, by Danehill Dancer out of Cloudy Nine. 12BE points. The Sheffields bourght Dane as a four year old straight out of racing, we gave him a bit of time off to wind down, in his first year he just started to learn all the basics as being a race horse is very different from being an event horse, he went to a few training shows over his first winter. As a five year old we did a few pony club events on him and finished the season by jumping three double clears at his first affiliated events. He has kept progressing well every year coming 9th in his first novice as a six year old and jumping clear cross country round his first intermediate as a 7 year old. Unfortunately last year we lost some early events due to wet ground but he went really well at Belton and Chatsworth and jumped double clear round his Intermediate Novice but then had a fight with the gate in the field and cut himself all which were just superficial but took lots of time to heal, he finished 2010 by jumping a super double clear at Oasby. In 2011 he will hopefully do a couple of Novices and then step up to Intermediate. He is a really exciting horse, he does still find the dressage all a bit exciting but he is a good show jumper and a fantastic cross country horse, he definitely has the scope to go up to advanced in the next couple of seasons.
