EXTRACURRICULAR - 16hh Thoroughbred mare, she is American bred by Thunder Gulch out of Frans Lass. Neil who is a regular customer at The Wheatsheaf owned Extra before us, he had bought her to race as a yearling from the sales but she was not quick enough, so he asked Cherise one day if she thought we would be interested on taking her on as he wanted her to have a good home. We collected straight from the training yard, she had been in easy work for about a month so the plan was to give a few more weeks of chilling out before starting work with her. She was in need of shoeing when we got her and when we had her done a couple of days after arriving we realised her feet were in need of a lot of care, she had collapsed heals on the front from badly fitting shoes and an infection in one of her back feet. Extra showed a lot of promise when we started working her we has a lovely trainable attitude and we had just started popping little fences when she cut herself in the field so has had to have some time off and then when we could start work with her the bad weather descended on us. In 2011 our aim with Extra is to do some training shows and if all goes well maybe do some events in the second half of the season.
