COLEORTON PRINCESS (Paris) The Sheffields bought Paris as a two year old as a bit of a project, she had been in training but had not raced, when we started to work on her as a three year old it soon became clear why, she would do anything but go forward, she could do a really good impression of a rodeo horse!! After a lot of work we managed to get her at least going in the direction I wanted and when we began to teach her to jump we discovered that she had amazing natural ability and was very careful, we have struggled for years with her flat work as she has a very short fuse and doesn't like being pushed out of her comfort zone even if I ask really nicely! but finally I feel we are beginning to have a breakthrough she is becoming a lot more consistant and rideable and her last dressage test wasn't just ok it was good, she is amazing at both show jumping and cross country but we have never affiliated her as her dressage was never good enough to be competitive but hopefully in 2009 we will finally be able to do a passable test and do a few novices and see how we get on. She has been brilliant show jumping right from the start although has been known to empty a few warm up arenas with her antics in the early days (I think I could have sold tickets for the entertainment we gave everyone!) but she has always been good in the ring, she has won over £400.00, Paris finally got to go eventing in the second half of this year, she did four novices and went well at all of them, getting placed at both Purston Manor and Solihull, gaining 3BE points. She even won her first dressage show this winter!!!
