POSH MANHATTON15.2hh Bay mare thought to be by Manhatton. 12BE points, £423 BS winnings, 4BD points. We swapped Posh for Lucky at the beginning of 2008, Bill Morris bought Posh in spring 2007 as a newly broken four year old with the idea of hunting her in the 2007/2008 season, he bought her over for me to help bring on her jumping when he first bought her, she seemed quite sweet on the flat, then I jumped her WOW! I did warn Bill that I thought Posh may be to careful to be a good whips horse, but she is so easy to have around he thought he would give it a go, she just couldn't cope with the jumping on different going, I am sure Bill won't mind me describing him as an old fashioned hunting rider he has lovely hands and rides his horses forwards to the fences but the problem was Posh liked to be placed and ideally preferred to get in quite close so he sent her to us to sell on. While we had Posh he was short of a horse to ride so we said to try Lucky, they gelled straight away, she loved being up the front and the centre of attention doing the job she loved best, so we decided to do a swap, Bill got an experienced hunt horse and we got Posh we knew she was nice but wondered if she would be brave enough to event. We took it very slowly at the beginning of the year making sure we built up her confidence, she has gone from strength to strength she has won over £350.00 show jumping in a limited amount of shows, qualified for the second round of British Novice and eventing I did a few unaffiliated events on her and then registered her for the second half of the season she did five out of five double clears at Pre Novice and was placed at four of them including winning Oasby and second at Solihull. In 2009 Posh did 4 more pre novices and jumped 3 more double clears, she has just started going Novice gaining her first point at Eland Lodge. 2010 was a bit of a learning curve with Posh she has again been very consistent jumping four out of five double clears at novice level, we took her to Osberton CCI1* but didn;t all go according to plan she was a little hot in the dressage and over keen in the cross country causing her first ever cross country fault but she learnt from it and made the rest of the course feel very easy and the show jumping was a bit of disaster as it was very deep and she went very careful but we completed the competition and I think we both came away having learnt a lot from it. In 2011 Posh has been placed again at Novice level including at Chatsworth international. We have decided we are going to sell Posh as we feel that she is more suited to pure show jumping than eventing, she is so careful and talented and although she has been very consistent at Novice level I think she may jump her self in to trouble if we made the step up to Intermediate. Since having a short break after Chatsworth in May Simon Grieves is very kindly riding Posh in some show jump shows for us, she has jumped clear every round they have done including gaining her four double clears for the second round of the Newcomers.
